Who
are we and how did we all end up on this bus together?
At
the age of 10, Ed Hodge had to decide whether to
purchase shaving gear or a tuba.
Although the tuba won that battle, it eventually lost out
to bass guitar in the fight for Ed’s musical talents.
(The shaving gear never had a chance.)
Ed honed his talents in Massachusetts with bands like
“Used Blues” before coming out to the Pacific Northwest a
few years ago. His
clean bass lines fill out the rhythm section and his harmony
vocals are a great complement to the lead.
Ed also treats fans to lead vocals himself on a few
numbers, including his own material like “Don’t Make No
Sense” and "Revelation."
Bob
Knetzger brings over 210 years of experience with him (that's in
"dog years"). His credits include performing
with local acts such as Deadwood and Fast Forward playing banjo,
mandolin, pedal steel, cat can and dobro. The licks from his pedal steel frost the cake in
TMJBB, adding that perfect
country flavor to the tunes. It don't mean a thang if it
ain't got that twang!
The freshest face in the MJBB is Mark Drake. Drummer extraordinaire,
Mark has many years of drumming under his belt, currently performing with
locals acts, Our House Jazz Quartet,
as well as Happy Savage. We can
sum up Mark's drumming in one word: TASTY!
No - no wait! There's even a fresher face! Of late, Dave
Corina has been chopping on his mandolin and wowing us with his
violin, adding a lovely new sound in the band :)

* SUPER SUBS * *
Don Miller is TMJBB's supersub guitarist when we need
that extra "oomph" at our dancing venues. He won't give us any
bio info, so we think he's some sort of spy, but we really like him and his
guitar playing, so we keep our fingers and eyes crossed that he won't be
arrested anytime soon and he'll be able to hang with us indefinitely.
Don is also the guitarist for the Seattle group ThorNton
Creek (who can be seen sharing the bill with TMJBB on an almost-regular
basis).
Bob
Papasian
could have been the world’s most famous oud player (look it
up!), but chose to follow the more traditional guitar path.
He comes to the band through day-job contact with
Michael. With over twenty-five years of music under his belt, he
effortlessly glides between the spare and the elaborate in his
solos and fills. Jaws have occasionally dropped and hit the floor during his
riffs as fans wonder how he gets such a rich sound from his
instruments.
When
the venue calls for it, our super drummer, Michael
Greene,
comes and takes up most of the stage with his full drum kit:)
Michael also brings his own material to the group -- his lyrics to “No Regrets” will entertain and
haunt you – pay attention!
Listen for his understated percussion work and backing vocals
throughout.
