HIGHWAY HEAVEN
tell me where oh where have good manners gone
did they go out of style? well it sure seems wrong
that we pay more attention to the cars we drive
than to people coming in and out of our lives
well it used to be that owning a car
was a luxury but now we’ve gone too far
‘cause if you don’t have one
that’s bigger
than your home
then you’re not keeping up with Family Jones
in my highway heaven there won’t be no centerline
and we’ll all let each other merge
because we’ll have the time
there won’t be no gas shortage
‘cause we’ll all run on love
and that commodity oil in the foreign soil
won’t be needed up above
in my highway heaven, in my highway heaven
in my highway heaven, we’ll all run on love
well once upon a Ford Model T
chugging along it was an escape from the
hustle and bustle and chaos at home
now driving is synonymous with using the phone
and we’re all rushing to get no where
cursing slow drivers ‘cause we don’t care
we’ve got our gas huffers, there can be no doubt
if you get in my lane buddy, i’ll squeeze you out
