FEEL GOOD SONG

well even on those darkest days
when gloom rides on my back
there’s a piece of me that steps right up
and wards off the attack
it pushes out the blahs and pulls up all the good
and gets me thinkin’ about all the great things in the world
like a big warm smile when you’re down in the dumps
and that no matter what you do in life
it all comes back around

like being nice to people even when they’re mean
moving out of your apartment
before the oven has to be cleaned
putting on your blue jeans in September and they fit
a clean house, a clean car, food laced with garlic
your daughter calls from college just to say hello
when all along you thought she called
to ask you for more dough

well it’s these things – they make me feel so good
oh yes these things – i feel so good
makes me wonder why i’d think of anything besides
these things that make me feel so good

like crawling into your own bed
after two weeks on the road
a nice cold beer after scoring that winning goal
no traffic, new clothes, a job well done
people clapping for your songs and singing right along
making love after a long dry spell
a home-cooked meal after that camp trip from hell

how about a nice big salad to chase out those casseroles
sitting in the hot tub after a long day in the snow
flannel PJs on a Northwest summer day
music – any kind you can play
a yard sale selling clothing that’s all your size
finding that perfect pair of pants
to hide your problem thighs
